It is with tremendous sadness that we pay tribute to the memory of A. Mack Pogue. He was an inspiration to us all, deeply admired, and will be sorely missed.

Mack founded Lincoln Property Company on a handshake in 1965. Over more than five decades as the Chairman of the company, he grew Lincoln into one of the largest privately held full service real estate companies in the United States. The key to his success was a simple approach to his business. In his own words, “You look for people you think can do it. You back them, and you let them go do it.”

Mack had unique qualities that were immediately evident in even the briefest of interactions with him – a clear sense of right and wrong, extraordinary decisiveness, unequaled clarity and brevity in the midst of complexity, trust in his partners, and a gut instinct that was uncanny in obtaining the results he wanted. He was a man of his word, a great leader with a big heart, and handled all challenges with bravery and perseverance.

His example lives on in the thousands of employees working at Lincoln today, all of whom take great pride in our company’s origins, Mack’s leadership, and Lincoln’s trademark, can-do approach to our business.

Bill Duvall, Mack’s partner in the running of Lincoln for over forty years, perhaps put it best:

“Mack Pogue will be remembered as one of the most prolific and influential real estate leaders of our time. For those of us who were lucky enough to work closely with him as he built Lincoln Property Company, he will be remembered as an incredible partner, mentor, and friend. There will never be another like him, and he will be greatly missed.”

A beautiful tribute written by Dallas Morning News paints a vivid picture of Mack’s life and his immense contributions to not only Lincoln Property Company, but the entire real estate industry.
