Our European journey began shortly after the fall of the Berlin wall—a significant milestone that marked Lincoln’s readiness to transcend borders and redefine the real estate landscape beyond our home base. We brought to Europe our unique blend of entrepreneurial vision, development acumen and operational expertise, while recognizing and respecting the importance of adapting to the local requirements and preferences of each new country we would serve. This balance and these attributes have served as the cornerstones of our global success story.
In 1997, we formed an exclusive partnership with AIG, marking a new chapter in our European operations. Together, we embarked on an ambitious mission to create a dominant service platform that would allow us to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving real estate market, and set unprecedented standards for the industry. The fruits of our partnership are visible across Europe today, represented by a portfolio currently totalling more than 2.6 million square meters across 50 projects in nine major markets.
In 2016, Lincoln re-launched our European operations with a renewed focus on both value-added investment and development opportunities across all asset sectors. Our overarching goals have remained consistent: to identify under-performing opportunities where we can add true value by leveraging our six-decade, multi-sector development expertise; and to reconceive and reinvigorate projects or sites that benefit the wellbeing of tenants and the wider community.
